My wife and I are going to really miss this car %uD83D%uDE41 Honestly the only reason we’re selling is because we’re becoming digital nomads and won’t be back for some years. Otherwise we’d hold onto this car for dear life!
We chose this Model 3 because it combined everything we wanted – it’s luxurious but affordable, it has both the performance package and the long range battery, it’s spacious but fits in any parking space, it’s super fun but super safe, and we save A LOT of money on gas and maintenance.
Specs: Full Self Driving capability (Hardware 3.0 – the latest version), Performance Brakes, Black and White Premium Interior, 20″ Performance Wheels, Carbon Fiber Spoiler, Long Range All-Wheel Drive Performance package, Performance Pedals
With this Tesla, we’ve been able to:
- Do an impromptu roadtrip from San Diego to Houston (2000mi roundtrip). The full-self driving REALLY came in handy here
- Regularly drive to (or sometimes actually onto) the beach to surf/stand-up paddleboard and could strap the board to the top of the car
- Drive through snow, sand, and grass easily. For heavy snow/ice, tire chains were quick to put on and we can include them for free
- Make many Home Depot runs while renovating a condo. We could fit items up to 8.5ft long
- Impress our friends and family with the crazy acceleration and the Full Self Driving
Pros you might’ve not known about:
- The back seats go down, perfect for moving big items
- You can charge from 0-80% in about 15 minutes
- Regenerative braking not only reduces wear on brake pads, but seriously recharges you battery. It works so well we almost feel bad using the brakes
- Many parking lots have special spots for EVs and even free charging
- There are different driver profiles that work off of your smartphone. So as long as you have the Tesla app open, the car will recognize it’s you and set the seat, steering wheel and side mirrors just the way you like them.
- Sentry mode lets you see around the car from the Tesla app. Plus car thieves are so afraid of Tesla’s technology that they won’t dare mess with it.
- Full Self Driving now costs $15,000, but it’s included in this car’s price.
But beware:
- People will keep asking you questions – “How do you like it?”, “Is that a trunk in the front?!”, “Are you looking to sell?”, “What’s it like not paying for gas?”
- You will gain weight on road trips because Full Self Driving lets you eat a whole meal and “drive” at the same time
- Actual con: if you want to supercharge but there aren’t many around, there can be a wait. Tesla’s always building more though.
- Actual con: there’s a learning curve to understanding all of the car’s features. The day you buy it, we recommend spending an hour getting used it – we’d be happy to show you the ropes too.
- Actual con: while there’s essentially no maintenance needed (no oil changes!), tires do wear out quicker b/c of the vehicle weight. But we replaced the tires 2000 miles ago, so you should be set for the next 30K miles.
