I bought this beautiful Model S Plaid in July of 2022 at peak price of $152,349.30, out the door (taxes, paint color, and delivery included). I even paid an additional $750.00 to replace the stupid, useless and dangerous yolk steering wheel with the real deal Tesla replacement round steering wheel (but the yolk comes with the car if you want it). And if that’s not enough, I also had the car ceramic coated, and had XPEL paint protection film installed on the front fenders, mirrors and hood for an additional $3,500.00. So, all-in-all, I’m into this beast for a grand total of $156,599.30. Then guess what happened within six months of my buying it? Yep, you guessed it… Tesla lowered the price. So, right now, you could buy the very same car brand new for $109,990.00, not including taxes and delivery. Thus, I’m forced to sell it for far less than it should be worth, but I have no choice thanks to Tesla’s “screw the customer” spastic pricing strategy. Thanks, Tesla!!!
If you want a excellent, accident free, used Model S Plaid that has been taken care of and garage kept since day one, this is the car for you. Moreover, depending on what state you live in, you’ll save big on sales tax by purchasing used from a private party vs a dealership. As you can see from the photos, this car has been lovingly cared for, and really looks and runs great. If interested, you’re more than welcome to come by and check it out. I live on the northwest side of Chicago near O’hare airport.
Vehicle Update #1: When I reached the 22,000 mile mark in July of 2025, I put on a brand new set of space gray Tsportline 20″ TSS with brand new Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires, which cost me another $4,201.48.
Vehicle Update #2: On September 8, 2025, I removed the factory rubber brake lines, and installed an Unplugged Performance Stainless Steel Sport Brake Line Set, with Unplugged Performance X PFC High Performance Brake Pads all around. Additionally, I installed a Mountain Pass Performance (MPP) Master Cyliner Brace, MPP 400mm Big Brake Rotor Kit up front, and MPP Two-Piece Rear Rotors. Lastly, the factory brake fluid was purged and replaced with Castrol SRF Racing Brake Fluid. Now the car stops exactly how it should have stopped from the factory on day 1! Yeah, this cost me another $5,100.00 for everything. I figure at this point what does it really matter? I’m now into the car for nearly $170K. So if I don’t end up selling it, I’ll just drive it until I die. But one thing is for sure… I’m never buying another Tesla product after the way they screwed me on this one!
Vehicle Update #3: Tesla has just announced the complete discontinuation of Model S effective Q2 2026. This baby is going to be a collector’s item one day down the road! Buy it now while it’s a steal, because in 15 years I’d be willing to bet it’s going to be worth more than I paid for it new.
