The car is in very good shape with low miles and has been an awesome vehicle, especially as a family vehicle and for cheap and reliable charging on road trips. It is a real joy to drive. It has been treated very well especially as far as maintaining the battery charge level between 40 and 80%, with the exception of longer road trips and supercharging when the battery charge obviously get cycled lower and higher than the ideal range but never left at a low or high level of charge for long. You can rest assured the battery has been treated well and has a long life ahead of it.
It has the seven seat setup, which is awesome for larger families with kids. It also has a 2” tow hitch for small trailers, bike racks (what we used it for), etc, but without the tow software that gives you trailer braking and Tesla operating system integration. Trailer braking capacity could be installed by Tesla or with an aftermarket controller kit. Teslas will tow very well but lose considerable range, bike racks included due to aerodynamic effects. The car also has a rack and Thule roof box which we probably will keep but might part with if purchased at near value.
The car has the FSD Beta software package as we are beta testers thanks to our safety score. We are certain that the FSD software package would remain with the new owner of the car, as if you purchased it with the car new, but that the FSD Beta access would most likely be removed until a new sufficient Safety Score is achieved. FSD Beta is alternatively amazing to watch and clearly far short of what’s needed, but is certainly developing utility and is fascinating to experience. ADAS and other advanced driving systems available with the core FSD software (not Beta) are a godsend on long days and in heavy traffic! It is hard to imagine going to a car without them.
There is a small scratch on the rear spoiler, a few rock chips and some small scratches consistent with daily use around exterior door handles, interior plastic, etc but nothing significant. It has served as a family car with child seats, flailing feet and everything that comes with that as far as normal wear and tear but Tesla’s choice of materials and design have held up really well. We installed protection right off the bat for the places that were clearly going to receive the most wear and tear like the frontseat backs. The front license plate holder (a stupid adhesive-only design) fell off, but I have a new holder that attaches to the front grille and is better. The rear mud flaps are upgraded as we have used it some on snowy and dirty roads and there are mud shoe mats in the front and back seats from day one as well as the trunk compartments. There is also an anti glare screen protector on the center screen since the first week we got the car.
Overall the car is in great shape and has been super reliable, not to mention an absolute pleasure to drive and travel in. It is the best car we’ve ever had and we would keep it but we are traveling for the next year plus (we might move overseas) and would rather see it get used to offset an ICE car. We considered a long term rental but decided it carried to much risk. We’ll get another Tesla down the line and almost certainly the Model Y again. Due to our travels we do have some selling considerations like date to discuss so please get in touch.
