Rivian R1S Used Prices
Used Rivian R1S prices have followed a similar trajectory, though they generally sit higher than R1T values due to stronger demand for the SUV. The least expensive used R1S models now typically start around $50,000–$60,000, usually for higher-mileage Dual-Motor or early builds without premium options. At the high end, well-optioned Tri-Motor or Quad-Motor R1S models with low mileage tend to land in the $75,000–$85,000 range.
As more R1S vehicles have entered the market, pricing has moved much closer to traditional luxury SUV depreciation rather than the inflated early-delivery premiums. If you’re planning to buy a used R1S in 2026, a realistic expectation is $55,000–$80,000, depending on drivetrain, battery, mileage, and overall condition.
What About the Rivian R2 and Other Upcoming Rivian Models?
Rivian has confirmed that the Rivian R2—a smaller, more affordable SUV positioned below the R1S—is now moving from future product to actual launch vehicle. Rivian says order invitations, demo drives, and first customer deliveries begin on June 9, 2026, with invitations going out in batches based partly on reservation timestamp and delivery location. Once an order is confirmed, Rivian says buyers can expect delivery within 2–6 weeks.
The first R2 available to order is the R2 Performance with Launch Package, starting at $57,990. Rivian says this version has an EPA-estimated range of 330 miles, 656 horsepower, and a 3.6-second 0–60 mph time.
Lower-priced R2 trims are coming, but not all at once. Rivian says the R2 Premium trim will arrive in late 2026, with the R2 Standard following in 2027. Rivian’s current (at the time of edit) R2 page lists R2 Standard starting at $48,490, R2 Premium starting at $53,990, and R2 Performance starting at $57,990.
That means the long-discussed “around $45,000” R2 is still part of the broader story, but the first real-world R2 deliveries are not starting at $45,000. Early buyers are getting the higher-priced Performance launch version first, while the cheaper trims come later.
The R2 is designed to be more compact and less expensive than the R1S, but it is not a replacement for the R1 platform. Instead, it expands Rivian’s lineup downward, targeting buyers who want a Rivian without paying R1S money.
From a used-market perspective, the R2’s arrival may put additional downward pressure on used R1T and R1S prices, especially for higher-mileage and base Dual-Motor builds. Buyers who were previously stretching to afford a used R1 may decide to wait for a new R2 instead, which should gradually soften used R1 pricing once R2 deliveries are underway.
